Robert J. Peterman is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Kansas State University. He holds the Mark H. and Margaret H. Hulings Chair in Engineering and has previously served as the Martin K. Eby Distinguished Professor in Engineering. His research focuses on structural evaluation and durable civil infrastructure, particularly concrete materials and reinforcement interactions.

His research has led to standardized testing methods (ASTM A1096) and industry-adopted protocols like the "Peterman Beam Test."
His funded projects include a $2.2 million Federal Rail Administration grant and over $4.5 million in total research funding since 2011. Awards include PCI Fellowship (2013), multiple departmental teaching honors, and recognition for research excellence at university and national levels.
