Robert J. Weyant is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Dental Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. He also serves as the Associate Dean of Dental Public Health and Community Outreach, and Interim Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs. With degrees in Public Health, Dentistry, and Epidemiology, Dr. Weyant specializes in oral health disparities, epidemiology, and public health dentistry. His research focuses on reducing oral health disparities and improving access to care.
Dr. Weyant has been recognized for his contributions, including the AADR/ADA Evidence-Based Dentistry Faculty Award. He directs the Center for Oral Health Research in Appalachia (COHRA) and oversees joint public health programs. His work spans clinical, policy, and community-oriented initiatives, addressing issues like opioid prescribing, fluoride education, and dental fear genetics.
Key achievements include NIH-funded studies, leadership roles in professional associations, and publications on topics such as oral health's impact on mortality, dietary choices in children, and implementation of clinical guidelines. His interdisciplinary approach bridges dentistry, public health, and policy to advance equitable oral health outcomes.
