Robert Halley

Robert Halley is a Lecturer at Colorado Mesa University, with extensive experience in geological research and environmental assessment. He previously served as a senior geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) from 1974 to 2008 and now combines academia with consulting and viticulture.

• Education: PhD in Geology (SUNY, Stony Brook), MS in Geological Sciences (Brown University), AB in Geology (Oberlin College)
• Research Focus: Coral reef systems, marine geochemistry, sedimentology, and coastal hazard analysis with interdisciplinary applications in climate science and conservation.
• Committee Service: Reviewed research proposals for NSF, NOAA, National Geographic Society; contributed to Everglades restoration and Acropora species assessment.

Halley's recent publications (2005-2014) demonstrate expertise in reef stratigraphy, carbonate chemistry, and paleoenvironmental reconstruction using coral records. His work intersects with climate change studies, coastal management, and marine ecosystem conservation.
