Robert Grossman

Robert Grossman is the Frederick H. Rawson Distinguished Service Professor of Medicine and Computer Science at the University of Chicago, and the Jim and Karen Frank Director of the Center for Translational Data Science (CTDS). He leads the Section of Biomedical Data Science in the Department of Medicine and chairs the Open Commons Consortium, a nonprofit developing research-focused cloud infrastructure. As a Partner at Analytic Strategy Partners, he advises on data-driven strategies. His research focuses on data science, machine learning, and translational applications in healthcare and environmental science, with projects such as Gen3 and the NCI Genomic Data Commons (GDC). He also pioneered the UDT transport protocol for high-speed data transfer and co-developed the NCI Genomic Data Commons, a platform for cancer genomics.
