Robert Griffiths

Robert Griffiths is a Lecturer in Mental Health at the University of Manchester and holds an honorary position as Director of the Mental Health Nursing Research Unit at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. He completed his PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Manchester (2019), an MSc (2007), and a BSc in Nursing from Coventry University (1998).

His research focuses on improving outcomes for individuals with first-episode psychosis, developing the Method of Levels therapy, applying Perceptual Control Theory to clinical practice, and reducing restrictive practices in pediatric mental health settings. Key contributions include a feasibility trial of Method of Levels therapy (Next Level trial) and work on non-restrictive interventions for self-harm in youth.

Griffiths has published extensively on topics such as oral health integration in mental healthcare, service redesign using theoretical frameworks, and the role of nurses in advancing mental health practices. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health equity and quality education.
