Robert G. Uzzo, MD, MBA, FACS is President & CEO of Fox Chase Cancer Center, Executive Vice President for Cancer Services at Temple University Health System, and Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Cancer Research at Lewis Katz School of Medicine, Temple University. He holds the G. Willing "Wing" Pepper Chair in Cancer Research and leads the Pennsylvania Urologic Regional Collaborative, the nation’s second-largest urologic quality initiative. His clinical expertise spans adrenal tumors, penile cancer, kidney cancer, and robotic/laparoscopic urologic oncology.
- Education: Summa cum laude BS/BA from Union College, MD from Weill Cornell Medical College, and MBA from Temple University's Fox School of Business. Completed fellowships at Cleveland Clinic and residencies at Memorial Sloan Kettering.
Dr. Uzzo's research focuses on renal cell carcinoma, particularly clinical decision models, surgical management, and adjuvant therapies. He developed the NEPHROMETRY scoring system for renal tumor complexity and has authored over 900 peer-reviewed publications. Recent articles highlight advancements in immune-checkpoint inhibitors, prostate cancer disparities, and nephron-sparing surgery.
- Scientific Awards: Andrew C. Novick Award (2016), SUO Medal (2018), Joseph A. Smith Jr. Mentorship Award (2023), and Distinguished Scholar Alumnus (2025).
With 50+ visiting professorships and six patents, he has led numerous clinical trials as PI or co-PI. His work has been cited 20,000+ times, and he mentors residents/fellows globally. Dr. Uzzo's patient-centric philosophy emphasizes individualized treatment and quality-of-life preservation.
