Dr. Robert Flierman is an Assistant Professor in Medieval Latin at Utrecht University's Department of Languages, Literature and Communication, affiliated with the Institute for Cultural Inquiry and the Utrecht University Centre for Medieval Studies (UU CMS), where he serves as chair. His research focuses on Early Medieval Europe, particularly Medieval Latin, Epistolary Performance, and Citizenship Discourses, as explored in his co-edited volume City, Citizen, Citizenship, 400–1500 (2024).
- Research Projects: Leads the NWO VIDI project 'Lettercraft and Epistolary Performance in Early Medieval Europe', analyzing medieval letters as performative tools for cross-social communication.
