Robert Duff is a Professor of the Practice of Music and Choral Conductor at Brandeis University's Department of Music. He oversees the vocal program, conducts choral ensembles, teaches conducting, and advises vocal performance track students. Duff also serves as Director of Music at Saint Cecilia Church in Boston and is Conductor Emeritus of the Handel Society at Dartmouth College. Previously, he taught at Pomona College, Claremont Graduate University, and Mount St. Mary’s College.
Education: D.M.A. from University of Southern California, M.M. from Temple University, B.A. from University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Research interests include choral conducting, vocal pedagogy, and commissioning new musical works. He has premiered multiple orchestral and choral compositions. Professional roles include service on the New Hampshire Council on the Arts and past presidency of the Eastern Division of the American Choral Directors Association.
Awards include the Teaching Fellows Program Award (2017-2018) and a U.S. Department of Education grant (2018-2019). His work emphasizes interdisciplinary performance and community engagement through music.
