Robert Dixon is an Associate Professor in the Psychology department at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He holds a PhD in School Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado, an M.Ed. in Community Counseling from Loyola University of Chicago, and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Manitoba. His expertise spans School Psychology, Response to Intervention (RtI), Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), and Online Service Delivery. He has been actively involved in curriculum development, including courses like School-wide Practices for Academics, Behavior, and Mental Health and Research & Program Evaluation.
Dr. Dixon has contributed to professional organizations such as the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) Board of Directors and the APA Division 16 Ethics Committee. His recent professional activities include presenting at conferences on topics like ethics in digital age practice and problem-based learning in training. He has co-authored articles addressing workforce shortages through online respecialization programs and maintains clinical involvement through volunteer work in local school districts.
He has secured significant grants, including a $1.25M award to enhance adapted physical education and school psychology programs. His advising and mentorship are central to his role, with active practicum and internship sequences guiding future school psychologists. Dixon also chairs APA Division 16’s ethics committee, reflecting his commitment to ethical standards in practice.
