Robert Carroll

Dr. Robert Carroll serves as an Assistant Professor of Instruction in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, with additional affiliation at the McCombs School of Business's Center for Global Business. His teaching expertise spans intercultural communication, conflict mediation, and community engagement for over 900 students annually through the Communication Foundations 2 program.

His academic background includes a Ph.D. in Interpersonal Communication from UT Austin, complemented by a B.A. in Communication and M.A. in Higher Education from the University of Missouri. Prior institutional experience includes advising roles at Temple University and the University of Kansas.

Dr. Carroll's professional focus centers on practical communication frameworks for global contexts, with demonstrated innovation in community-engaged pedagogy and cross-cultural curriculum development. His work bridges academic theory with real-world application through international course development across Southeast Asia and European partnerships.

He directs a 15-instructor teaching team for foundational communication courses while providing executive communication coaching for major corporations including Google, Apple, Microsoft, and The Pokémon Company through McCombs+ and external consulting. His international teaching experience spans Copenhagen, Barcelona, and Southeast Asia, reflecting deep commitment to global educational exchange.
