Robert Boyd is a Lecturer at the School of Health and Life Sciences. He held an external examiner role at the University of Stirling from March 2016 to February 2017. Dr. Boyd earned his PhD from the University of Glasgow in 2007 with a thesis titled 'The Values History: A way to empower People with Dementia,' exploring care planning for individuals with dementia. His research focuses on dementia care, mental health nursing, telehealth, end-of-life decision-making, and patient empowerment. He supervises two PhD students (as second supervisor) and several MSc students in areas like dementia, mental health, and healthcare technology. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being.
Notable contributions include the 'Rutherglen and Cambuslang Values History Project' and studies on telecare implementation and early dementia diagnosis. He has received the Mental Health Nursing Forum Scotland 7th Annual National Prize (2007). Boyd actively participates in academic conferences, including the 2012 Joint University of Abertay and Dundee University conference. His media engagement includes a contribution titled 'Hear my voice' in October 2010.
