Robert Bond is an Associate Professor of Communication at Ohio State University’s School of Communication. He holds roles as faculty co-lead of the Computational Social Sciences Community of Practice in the Translational Data Analytics Institute (TDAI) and co-founder of the Computational and Statistical Models group (COSMOS). His research focuses on social networks, political communication, and computational methods, with particular attention to misinformation, vaccine hesitancy, and online behavior. Bond earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego, and holds M.A. and B.A. degrees from Arizona State University.
His work integrates network analysis, machine learning, and behavioral science to explore how social structures influence political attitudes and health-related decisions. Recent studies include examining journalists’ network homophily, the impact of fact-checked content on Reddit, and disparities in vaccine hesitancy among racial groups. Bond’s interdisciplinary approach bridges communication studies, data science, and social network theory.
Bond’s affiliations include the School of Communication and TDAI’s computational social science initiatives. His lab, COSMOS, focuses on developing innovative analytical frameworks for understanding complex social phenomena.
