Dr. Robert Bolam is a Senior Lecturer in Aeronautical Engineering at Wrexham University, where he established the MSc course on Unmanned Aircraft Systems Technology (UAST) and the Aircraft Electrical Propulsion (AEP) laboratory at the Wrexham Optic Centre. He founded Altitude Products Ltd., an Aerospace Design Consultancy, and currently leads a Welsh Government-funded project developing a ducted electrical fan-jet for high-speed aircraft propulsion. Rob actively supervises the Wrexham team in the annual IMechE Unmanned Aircraft System Challenge, emphasizing hands-on aviation experiences for students.
His research focuses on integrating industrial expertise into academic innovation, particularly in unmanned and electrical aircraft systems. Despite founding a consultancy and working on diverse aircraft projects, he prioritizes advancing aerospace education through practical field trips and UAS flying events at the university's Northop campus.
