معرفی
Robert Aller is a Distinguished Professor at the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS), Stony Brook University. His research focuses on marine biogeochemistry, particularly early diagenetic processes in marine sediments, with applications to global elemental cycling and paleoenvironmental reconstruction.
- Education:
- Ph.D., Yale University (1977)
His work examines sediment-water interface interactions, authigenic mineral formation, and macrobenthic-organic matter relationships. He pioneers advanced 2D optical sensor technologies (e.g., pH and pCO2 sensors) to study biogeochemical heterogeneity in bioturbated zones.
Recent publications highlight large-scale diagenetic patterns in tropical deltaic systems (Amazon-Guianas mudbelt, Gulf of Papua), emphasizing reverse weathering, Fe-carbonate precipitation, and organic matter incineration. Collaborative projects span institutions like Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, AIMS (Australia), and universities in France and Canada.
- Scientific Recognition:
- Distinguished Professor, Stony Brook University
Professor Aller collaborates extensively with Josephine Aller, J. Kirk Cochran, and international scientists. His lab investigates biogeochemical dynamics in physically energetic environments and develops high-resolution sensor systems for marine sediment analysis.
