Robby Allen

Professor Robby Allen serves as Professor of Leadership and Neurodiversity at Cranfield University's Defence College, where he is Head of Group for Defence and Security Leadership, Management and Strategic Capability. He holds multiple professional designations including Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (FCIPS), Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), and Member of the Chartered Management Institute (MCMI). His academic leadership extends to serving on University Senate and as an Academic Conduct Officer.

Dr. Allen's educational background includes a PhD from the University of South Wales in Organisational Behaviour (thesis on expert mimicry) and a Master of Science degree in procurement from University of Glamorgan. His credentials are further enhanced by a PG Cert in teaching, a diploma in Anxiety and Phobia counselling, and a diploma in Neurophysiology.

Professor Allen's research spans several interconnected domains focused on human behavior in organizational contexts. His primary research interests include neurodiversity in the workplace (particularly among military veterans), leadership as a natural human phenomenon, anxiety in working populations, and Universal Darwinism applied to management and organizational behavior. His work examines how neurodivergent individuals navigate workplace environments, the emergence of leadership in organizational settings, and the cognitive processes underlying expertise attribution.

His publication record demonstrates consistent scholarly output through 2025, with recent work exploring expertise modeling, neurodiversity intersectionality, human-AI collaboration, and cybersecurity implementation in social enterprises. His research shows a clear trajectory from defense-related organizational behavior toward broader applications of neurodiversity and human cognition in workplace settings.

Previously, he served 24 years in the UK Ministry of Defence in roles including Commercial Strategy Lead for Future Submarines, Assistant Head of Commercial Policy, and Harassment Investigation Officer. Professor Allen maintains active research collaborations and is particularly interested in supervising students exploring neurodiversity management, anxiety in workplace contexts, leadership emergence, and Universal Darwinism applications.
