Professor Rob Sayers is the George Davies Chair of Vascular Surgery at the University of Leicester and an Honorary Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at Leicester Vascular Institute, Glenfield Hospital. He trained in Birmingham, Leicester, and Adelaide, and previously served as Senior Lecturer and Reader in Vascular Surgery at Leicester. Sayers has held leadership roles including Past President of the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland (2016-17) and former Chair of the Research Committee of the VSGBI. His research focuses on abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) and chronic limb-threatening ischaemia (CLTI), with a particular emphasis on clinical outcomes, service delivery optimization, and multidisciplinary care pathways.
His recent publications (2023-2025) highlight trends in vascular surgery research, particularly in
- core outcome sets for peripheral artery disease (PAD)
- cognitive impairment in PAD patients
- frailty assessment in CLTI
