Ronelle Mouton serves as Honorary Professor of Anaesthesia at Bristol Medical School, University of Bristol, and Consultant Anaesthetist at North Bristol NHS Trust since February 2008. She holds key external roles including Chair of the Vascular Anaesthesia Society of Great Britain & Ireland (2019-present), Royal College of Anaesthetists NAP7 Steering Panel member (2020-present), and Perioperative Medicine Clinical Trials Network Board member (2023-present).
Her research specializes in vascular anaesthesia, perioperative clinical trial methodology, and tobacco cessation frameworks. She develops standardized reporting protocols for vascular and anaesthesia interventions, with strong emphasis on systematic reviews and randomized controlled trials in perioperative medicine. Current work focuses on improving outcomes in vascular/cardiothoracic surgery through evidence-based perioperative interventions.
Recent publications (2025) establish frameworks for endovascular trials (Endo-STAR) and anaesthesia interventions, alongside systematic reviews of intensive care outcomes. These demonstrate consistent focus on trial methodology standardization, vascular surgery outcomes, and perioperative risk reduction across multiple high-impact surgical contexts.
Her major honors include best research presentation at the Association of Anaesthetists meeting (2023), VASGBI Chair appointment (2019), and POMCTN Chief Investigator role (2020).
She leads three principal investigator projects: CAMELOT trial on laparotomy analgesia (2022-2026), PROTECTOR tobacco cessation study (2023-2024), and anaesthesia intervention reporting frameworks project (2021-2024), all targeting perioperative care enhancement through clinical evidence generation.
