Rob Sara is a Lecturer and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy at the University of Cumbria, Carlisle campus, with 20 years of professional experience in London's photographic production industry. His teaching incorporates professional practice and industry connections into photographic practice modules.
Research interests include the evolving role of analogue processes in digital photography, contemporary portraiture methodologies, technical process selection in conceptual development, and collaborative art practices. Sara previously operated a professional C-type hand printing service for renowned artists including Stephen Gill and Tom Wood, with works held in collections at institutions like the V&A Museum and Tate Modern. His artistic practice explores cultural judgments in portraiture-text relationships, notably in projects like 'Human Books'.
