Mark Edwards serves as an Associate Professor in Photography at the University of Suffolk within the School of Business, Arts, Social Sciences and Technology. His photographic work exploring East Anglian landscape discourse is held in major collections including:
- Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), London
- Government Art Collection (displayed at British Embassy Berlin, British High Commission Islamabad, and HM Treasury)
- The Hyman Collection of British Photography
- Norwich Museum and Art Gallery
His research centers on landscape traditions in East Anglia and Essex through photographic practice, examining intersections of painting, literature, and vanitas themes. Exhibitions include V&A Museum's "Into the Woods: Photography & Trees" (2017-18) and Towner Gallery's "A Green and Pleasant Land" (2017-18), reflecting his focus on cultural geography and environmental representation.
Edwards presents research internationally at venues including Tate Britain, Yale University's Paul Mellon Centre, and the University of Amsterdam. His 2023 book chapter in "W. G. Sebald’s Artistic Legacies" extends his investigation into literary-photographic connections, building on conference presentations like "Constable and the Weather" (Tate Britain, 2015) and "Monuments" (Sainsbury Centre, 2014).
