Rob Hawkes is a Senior Lecturer in English Studies at Teesside University's School of Arts and Creative Industries. His academic journey includes a BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Liverpool, an MA in Literature from the University of Hertfordshire, and a PhD in English from the University of York. His research bridges modernist/postmodernist literature with economics, focusing on money, trust, and neochartalism. He explores interdisciplinary connections between literature, sociology, and political economy in texts ranging from Ford Madox Ford to contemporary authors.
Hawkes leads significant academic initiatives as Past Chair of the British Association for Modernist Studies and Executive Committee member of the Ford Madox Ford Society. His public engagement includes podcasts like Money on the Left, where he discusses monetary theory and literary analysis. Awards include Fellowship of the English Association for contributions to literary scholarship.
