Roald Renmælmo

Roald Renmælmo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture and Technology at NTNU. His work focuses on traditional building techniques, craft-based material analysis, and heritage conservation methodologies.

Research examines historical construction methods including timber framing, tar production, and stave church preservation. Fieldwork includes documenting tool marks, reconstructing historical techniques, and analyzing structural properties of traditional joints.

Recent publications (2018-2023) investigate medieval woodworking tools, load capacities of wooden dowel connections, and historical tar production methods. Teaching includes courses on traditional carpentry and stave construction techniques.
