Alberto Zambelli serves as Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna, teaching Woodworking Techniques within the Restoration program (PFP2) for Wooden and Painted Materials since 2011. He is a state-authorized Restorer of cultural heritage specializing in carved wooden artifacts, furnishings, and wooden structures under Decree DG-ER 183/2018.
His educational foundation includes a 1991 graduation in Art Restoration from Florence's Institute for Art and Restoration-Palazzo Spinelli and 1992 credentials in Wood Carving from the Cento-Pievese School of Artistic Crafts, supplemented by violin making studies (1992-1994). Early training began with cabinetmaker Enzo Poppi in 1988.
Zambelli's expertise centers on practical restoration methodologies for wooden cultural heritage, emphasizing tool mastery, wood species identification, structural analysis of artifacts, and traditional techniques like carving and inlay. His approach integrates conservation ethics with hands-on craftsmanship for furniture, sculptures, and frames.
Teaching methodology combines theoretical instruction on wood technology and joint systems with supervised practical exercises. Student assessment involves oral examinations and evaluation of artifact reproduction samples documented in PDF portfolios.
