mgr inż. Tomasz Zybała is an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Technical Fundamentals of Architectural Design, Faculty of Architecture, Gdańsk University of Technology. His research focuses on architectural heritage preservation, timber construction, structural analysis of historic buildings, and sustainable design. He is particularly known for studies on wooden structures in the Vistula Delta region, including arcaded houses, churches, and portico farmhouses.
Research Interests: Tomasz’s work combines historical architecture analysis with engineering approaches, such as finite element modeling and non-destructive testing. He investigates carpentry techniques, timber degradation in historic buildings, and strategies for conserving wooden structures. His projects often involve interdisciplinary methods, integrating architectural history with material science.
Key Projects:
- Leading research on hybrid timber construction education through the ERASMUS+ funded project HiHTC.
- Contributing to the OPUS-funded project Geometric-strength analysis of historical carpentry joints.
Publications Overview: His recent work (2024) addresses educational strategies for timber construction competencies and the conservation of historic churches in Poland. Earlier studies (2021–2017) analyze structural integrity of wooden joints, portico houses, and regional architectural heritage.
