Ro Nogueira

Dr. Ro Nogueira is an Assistant Professor at Bond University's Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine, where they actively contribute to research and teaching in human anatomy, musculoskeletal health, and exercise physiology. They are currently accepting PhD students and maintain an active research program focused on bone health, body composition, and medical education.

Dr. Nogueira's educational background includes a PhD in Exercise Physiology from Griffith University (2014), a Master of Human Movement Science from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2009), and an MBA from Getulio Vargas Foundation (2007). They are also an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) and Accredited Exercise Scientist (AES) with Exercise and Sports Science Australia.

Their research interests center on human anatomy, musculoskeletal health, and the impact of exercise and nutrition on bone and body composition across the lifespan, with particular focus on women's health and skeletal health during peri-menopause. They also explore medical education, curriculum design, student learning experience, and leadership development in healthcare, valuing interdisciplinary collaborations that improve health outcomes.

Dr. Nogueira's recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on bone health, body composition, and exercise interventions, particularly in pediatric and women's health contexts. Their work often involves cross-sectional and longitudinal studies examining the relationship between physical activity and skeletal health.

Dr. Nogueira welcomes HDR students interested in musculoskeletal health, exercise physiology, women's health, and anatomy education. They are particularly keen to supervise projects examining lifestyle factors influencing bone and body composition or innovations in health education. Current supervision includes MD student Guwanya Kodithuwakku researching 'The role of microRNAs in mediating improvements in body composition with regular physical activity.'

Dr. Nogueira has previously held positions as a Lecturer & Course-convenor in Anatomy (2016-2017), PhD Researcher Assistant (2014-2021), and Academic Tutor in Anatomy (2013-2021) at Griffith University, demonstrating a strong commitment to medical education and student development.
