Ritu Mathur is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and Geography at the University of Texas at San Antonio, USA, affiliated with the College of Liberal and Fine Arts. Since Fall 2014, she has taught courses spanning International Politics, Critical Security Studies, and Humanitarian Law at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Her work challenges colonial legacies in disarmament frameworks and advocates for decolonizing security archives.
Key trends in her publications include postcolonial critiques of cyber arms control (2025), civilizational rhetoric in global governance (2020), and hybridity in disarmament practices (2016). Earlier works analyze Hiroshima memory (2018), techno-racism (2018), and the paradox of nuclear equality (2016).
Dr. Mathur has served as guest editor for the Asian Journal of Political Science, curating a 2018 special issue on Postcolonial Perspectives in Weapons Control. She holds a 2017 patent for Red Cross Interventions in Weapons Control and is currently researching Security Archives and Cyber Arms Control.
