Rita Rosenthal is an Associate Professor of the Practice and Public Speaking Coordinator in the Communication Department at Boston College. She holds a B.S. in Communication Education (with honors) from Appalachian State University and an M.A. in Interpersonal and Public Communication from Bowling Green State University. Her research focuses on rhetoric, presidential campaigns, and social movements, with a notable thesis on time-of-day effects on audience persuasibility.
Professor Rosenthal has taught at Boston College for 18 years, leading courses such as Public Speaking, Persuasion, and a core course on American Social Norms and Values through Disney. She directs the Leonard Persuasive Speaking contest and previously coached Bowling Green’s nationally ranked speech team. Awards include the 2013 Athletic Academic Faculty of the Year and 2015 Fultonian of the Year Award.
Her professional activities include membership in the Eastern Communication Association. She is affiliated with St. Mary’s Hall S483 and actively contributes to pedagogical innovation in communication education.
