April N Blount

April N Blount is a Lecturer in the Department of Communication at The University of Texas at Arlington since August 2011. She holds both a B.A. (2006) and M.A. (2011) in Communication from UTA. Her research focuses on Health Communication, particularly influencing factors in birthing choices among first-time mothers, and interpersonal disclosure behaviors.

Teaching specialties include Fundamentals of Public Speaking, Group Communication Principles, and Professional/Technical Communication. She has taught extensively across multiple semesters, often handling 3–5 courses per term. Active service roles include Chair of the COMM Day Committee (2023–present) and advisor for the COMM Attire Closet (2021–2022).

Presentations include workshops on 'Leveling Up Your Communication' (2024), 'Persuasive Communication' (2023), and 'Public Speaking 101' (2023), delivered through UTA's entrepreneurship center.
