معرفی
Rikke Luther is a Guest Researcher and Postdoc at the Section for Biodiversity, Globe Institute, University of Copenhagen. Her work examines the Earth System in relation to environmental and biodiversity crises through an interdisciplinary lens combining art and science.
Her research interests span Earth System Science, Environmental Crises, Biodiversity, Political Ecology, and the interrelations between landscape, geology, oceanography, politics, and economics. She explores the motion of mud-scapes and their social, political, and bio-chemical effects, aiming to develop an ethical-aesthetic public language for communicating Earth System shifts.
Luther's recent artistic and academic outputs (2017-2023) focus on mud, sand, and environmental crises, reflecting trends in interdisciplinary environmental research that bridge art, science, and policy. Her work emphasizes the circulatory and uncertain nature of environmental change, particularly in Arctic and coastal regions.
She is currently engaged in the postdoctoral project "The Ocean-Lands: Mud Within the Earth System" under Prof. Katherine Richardson at the Queen Margrethe’s and Vigdís Finnbogadóttir’s Interdisciplinary Research Centre. This project involves fieldwork in Iceland, Greenland, Svalbard, Gotland, and Denmark, and collaboration with institutions across Europe including Skaftfell (Iceland), Baltic Art Center (Sweden), Art Hub (Denmark), Artica (Svalbard), and Narsaq International Research Station (Greenland).
