Dr. Ricky Gee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social and Political Sciences at Nottingham Trent University. He specializes in the sociology of work and career, focusing on critical employability and social justice. As co-lead of the Experiential and Employability Working Group, he significantly improved Graduate Outcomes (GOS) scores. His leadership as BA Sociology Course Leader (2016–2019) drove unprecedented enrollment growth and a 21-position rise in league tables. He teaches across undergraduate and postgraduate programs and supervises 6 PhD candidates.
Research interests include transdisciplinary career studies, precarity in labor markets, and critical pedagogy. He collaborates internationally through networks like the COCAG COST-action and locally with organizations like Nottingham Citizens. Key awards include the Stan Marsh Prize for Best Paper (2014). His work challenges neoliberal narratives in education and employment through publications addressing career agility, employability metrics, and youth transition.
