Rick Peckham is a full-time Professor in the Guitar Department at Berklee College of Music, where he has taught since 1986. He served as Assistant Chair of the Guitar Department from 1992 to 2013, overseeing 1,100 students and 60 faculty.
- Education: Master of Music (1985) from University of North Texas; Bachelor of Music (1981) from Ohio State University.
Peckham’s research and pedagogical work focuses on jazz guitar, rock music, and modal voicing techniques, with a unique blend of jazz, rock, blues, fusion, and country fingerstyle. His creative output includes the 2005 Left End album (DownBeat ‘Best Release’), the Stray Dog (2001) project, and the Human Feel (1989) avant-garde ensemble work. He also pioneered educational resources like the 2007 UCEA Award-winning Berklee Guitar Chords 101 course and the Modal Voicing Techniques DVD.
