Richard Wamai is a Professor of Cultures, Societies, and Global Studies at Northeastern University's College of Social Sciences and Humanities. He previously held roles at Harvard University's Takemi Program in International Health and Oxford University's Department of Social Policy. His research focuses on global health equity, HIV/AIDS prevention, neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), and health systems strengthening in Africa.
Education: Postdoc (Harvard University School of Public Health, 2008), PhD (University of Helsinki, 2004), BA (Egerton University, 1994).
Research Highlights: Co-leads Northeastern's Integrated Initiative for Global Health. Founded the TERMES Center in Kenya to address NTDs. Key areas include male circumcision for HIV prevention, cancer epidemiology in sub-Saharan Africa, and the socioeconomic impacts of leishmaniasis.
Awards: Kenyan Diaspora Shujaa Award (2013), Northeastern Favorite Faculty (2013), World AIDS Day Unsung Hero (2012). Recognized for advancing global HIV/AIDS research and community health initiatives.
