Dawit O. Woldu

Dawit O. Woldu serves as Associate Professor of Anthropology in the College of Human Sciences and Humanities at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, where he teaches courses on social medicine and African studies.

Education:

Research Focus: Dr. Woldu investigates the cultural, biological, and ecological dimensions of malaria and HIV/AIDS epidemics in Kenya, with specialized attention to substance abuse and culturally mediated risk behaviors in East African urban communities. His work extends to diaspora studies examining Eritrean and Ethiopian refugee experiences in the United States.

Professional Background: Prior to joining UHCL, he completed postdoctoral research at Ohio University's African Studies Program focusing on HIV/AIDS interventions, while teaching Health Research in Africa and coordinating global health curriculum development through the Global Health Institute.
