Richard Wallach serves as a Visiting Professor at Syracuse University College of Law, teaching Legal Communication and Research to first-year students since Spring 2024.
His education includes a J.D. summa cum laude from Syracuse University College of Law (2006), an M.A. in East Asian Studies from Yale University (1988), and a B.A. in Economics from Haverford College (1987). He also completed intensive Mandarin Chinese study at The Stanford Center in Taipei.
Professor Wallach's expertise spans Immigration Law, Legal Research and Writing, and International Law, informed by his extensive practice at Hiscock Legal Aid Society and private immigration law work. His professional background includes 16 years as Career Law Clerk to U.S. District Judge Kathleen Cardone, where he drafted judicial opinions and supervised law clerks, alongside prior management roles at FAME Information Services and English teaching positions at Beijing University and Renmin University.
During law school, he served as Managing Editor of the Syracuse Law Review and earned membership in the Order of the Coif and Justinian Honor Society. He completed a judicial clerkship with Second Circuit Judge Rosemary Pooler and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2007.
