Richard Van Dyke, DMA, NCTM, is an Adjunct Professor of Piano at Northern Kentucky University's School of the Arts, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, with studies under Elisabeth Pridonoff, Eugene Pridonoff, Richard Morris, and Sandra Rivers. His pedagogy mentors include Dr. Michelle Conda and Dr. Cleveland Page.
Dr. Van Dyke is a prominent figure in music education, recognized for his student achievements in competitions like the David Dubois International Piano Competition and MTNA National Competitions. His research focuses on 'Ten Steps to Parnassus,' a repertoire framework developed with Dr. Lian Tan and Dr. Erin Bennett. He actively contributes to professional organizations, serving as OhioMTA Southwest Association secretary, president, and MTNA National Competitions Coordinator.
He has presented at conferences including the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy and MTNA National Conferences, and has lectured at institutions such as the University of Cincinnati and Kent State University. His teaching extends beyond NKU to the Cincinnati Music Academy in Ohio.
