Dongwon Shin serves as Adjunct Piano Faculty at SUNY Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, New York, teaching applied piano and academic courses, while concurrently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Literature with a minor in Music Theory at the Eastman School of Music under Professor Alan Chow.
His educational journey includes a DMA candidacy at Eastman School of Music, following an early debut at age 14 with the Sunhwa Symphony Orchestra. Shin has performed extensively as a soloist and collaborative pianist across the United States, Asia, and Europe, with recent appearances at the Chautauqua Institution, Prague Music Performance, Eastman Leadership Conference, and NCKP Piano Conference.
Shin's research focuses on contemporary piano chamber music, specifically advocating for works by living female composers. He presents this specialized repertoire at major conferences including the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) National Conference and College Music Society (CMS) National Conference, bridging performance practice with scholarly inquiry.
His artistic excellence has been recognized through prestigious competition awards:

Prior to his current faculty role, Shin served as Professor Chow's studio teaching assistant and secondary piano teaching assistant at Eastman, demonstrating his commitment to music education alongside his performance career.
