Margaret Evans serves as an Adjunct Professor of Piano at Meredith College, where she advises the MTNA Collegiate Chapter. Holding terminal degrees from Northwestern University (DMus), University of Illinois (MM), and UNC Chapel Hill (BM), her expertise spans performance and pedagogy. She specializes in teaching classical piano technique, memory development, and competition preparation.
Her research focuses on the Water Music of Liszt, Ravel, and Debussy, as well as the piano concertos of Mozart and Beethoven. Since 2007, she has hosted six residencies with technique specialist Sheila Paige at Meredith College. Dr. Evans' students excel in national/international competitions, securing orchestral performances and scholarships to top conservatories like Oberlin and Eastman.
- Judged major competitions including Van Cliburn Amateur, MTNA, and Bartok-Kabalevsky-Prokofiev International
- Invited to judge in Hong Kong (5 times)
- Speaker at World Piano Pedagogy Conference and NCMTA State Conferences
Her service includes roles on the Raleigh Chamber Music Guild Executive Board and North Carolina MTNA Executive Board. She pioneered Meredith's MTNA chapter, the second in North Carolina.
