Richard Rambuss is the Nicholas Brown Professor of Oratory and Belles Lettres and Chair of the English Department at Brown University. He holds a BA from Amherst College (1983) and a PhD from Johns Hopkins University (1990). His research bridges 16th/17th-century English literature, film studies, and gender/sexuality studies. Current projects include a book on Mardi Gras Milton and Kubrick's exploration of masculinity. He previously chaired Emory University's English Department and served as Visiting Hudson Strode Professor at the University of Alabama (2009).
His work focuses on Renaissance poets (Milton, Shakespeare, Donne, Crashaw), Baroque aesthetics, and films by Kubrick, Lynch, and Hitchcock. Courses taught include 'Men's Films,' 'Milton Studies,' and 'Kubrick's Work.'
