Dr Richard Moore is a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Science & Security Studies (CSSS) within the Department of War Studies at King's College London. His research focuses on the history of Britain's nuclear weapons programme, naval/aerospace history, civil nuclear history, and nuclear proliferation. He holds MA and MPhil degrees from the University of Cambridge and a PhD from the University of Hull under Eric Grove, focusing on the Royal Navy and nuclear weapons.
He has organized nuclear history conferences at Charterhouse School since the early 2000s, facilitating dialogue between veterans, academics, and researchers. His work bridges military history, security studies, and technological policy analysis, emphasizing the interplay of political, military, and technological factors in nuclear programme development.
Publications include books on nuclear deterrence and peer-reviewed articles on topics ranging from Cold War bomber strategies to the cultural history of naval traditions. His research contributes to understanding the domestic and international drivers shaping nuclear policies and technological choices.
