Richard Maguire is an Honorary Associate Professor in the School of History and Art History at the University of East Anglia. His research focuses on economic history, African diaspora communities in Britain, Cold War nuclear policy, and the legacies of colonialism. He has published extensively on topics ranging from Jamaican plantation slavery to the Black middle class in Norfolk.

Recent work includes Plantation Slavery, Jamaica and Absentee Ownership (2024) and Africans in East Anglia (2021). His articles bridge historical methodologies with contemporary debates about race, violence, and governance.
