Richard M. Dubinsky, MD, MPH, serves as Professor of Neurology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, where he founded the Dystonia Clinic and maintains active roles in clinical care, research, and medical education. His career spans over three decades at KU Medical Center with continuous service on key institutional committees.

Dr. Dubinsky's research focuses on movement disorder pathophysiology and treatment innovation, particularly in dystonia, Huntington's disease, and Parkinson's disease. He pioneered early investigations into botulinum toxin therapy for movement disorders and contributes to neurophysiology, PET imaging, and evidence-based neurology frameworks. His epidemiological studies inform clinical practice guidelines through collaborations with the American Academy of Neurology.
As a dedicated educator, he directed KU's Neurology Residency Program for 16 cumulative years (1992-1997, 2008-2019) and clinical neurophysiology fellowships. Currently serving on the Department of Neurology's Executive Committee, Promotion and Tenure Committee, and Graduate Medical Education Committee, he shapes academic standards while contributing to Alzheimer's disease and aging research as a Data Safety Monitoring Board member for multiple clinical trials.
Dr. Dubinsky founded KU's Dystonia Clinic and maintains the unique position of consulting neurologist for the Kansas City Zoological Gardens. His leadership in the Dystonia Study Group since 2000 and ongoing clinical trial oversight demonstrate sustained impact across academic neurology, translational research, and specialized patient care.
