Professor Richard Kitching is a Research Professor in the Department of Medicine at Monash University, affiliated with the Centre for Inflammatory Disease. He holds a PhD from Monash University (1999) and an MB ChB from the University of Otago (1987). His research focuses on autoimmune vasculitis, particularly the role of the immune system in kidney injury, with a emphasis on rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis. He leads a research group funded by NHMRC grants and collaborates internationally on projects like the ANZ Vasculitis Society and the ANZ Vasculitis Quality and Disease Registry.
Education: PhD (Monash University, 1999), MB ChB (University of Otago, 1987).
Research Interests: Autoimmune vasculitis, glomerulonephritis, T cell biology, immunoregulation, and clinical nephrology. His work aims to develop antigen-specific treatments targeting disease mechanisms like neutrophil extracellular traps and cytokine pathways.

Established the ANZ Vasculitis Society (2018) and its Quality and Disease Registry (2023).
