Richard Hanke-Rauschenbach

Prof. Richard Hanke-Rauschenbach is a Professor at Leibniz University Hannover, leading the Section of Electrical Energy Storage Systems within the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He holds key roles including Executive Director of the Electrical Energy Storage Systems Section, Chairperson of the Power Engineering Admissions Board, and member of the Executive Board of the Leibniz Research Centre Energy 2050. His research focuses on electrochemical energy storage, particularly in proton exchange membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE), fuel cell technologies, and hydrogen systems. He also contributes to energy system modeling, materials science for energy applications, and decarbonization strategies.

Research interests include catalyst optimization, membrane durability, and system integration of renewable energy storage. His work addresses challenges in hydrogen production efficiency, degradation mechanisms in electrochemical cells, and large-scale energy infrastructure. He collaborates with the Laboratory of Nano and Quantum Engineering and leads initiatives in the Leibniz Research Centre Energy 2050.
