Richard Höfer

Richard Höfer is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Mathematics, University of Regensburg, Germany. His research focuses on the emergence of collective phenomena from small-scale interactions, particularly in systems of many particles suspended in fluids.

• PhD in Mathematics (2019) from Hausdorff Center for Mathematics, Bonn
• Postdoctoral researcher at Université de Bordeaux (2020) and Université Paris Cité (2021-2022)

His work combines methods from fluid mechanics, optimal transport, homogenization, and kinetic theory to study complex particle systems. Current interests include the mathematical analysis of partial differential equations and modeling of particle-laden fluids.

Scientific awards include the prestigious Leopoldina Postdoctoral Fellowship. His research contributes to understanding how microscopic interactions generate macroscopic behavior in fluid-particle systems.
