Richard Gilmartin

Richard Gilmartin is a Lecturer in Transport Design at Staffordshire University’s Digital, Tech, Innovation & Business School. With 25 years of industry experience, he has worked for premium automotive manufacturers such as Bentley, Land Rover, Mini, MG, SAIC, and Hongqi, specializing in production and show car design, interior design leadership, and design visualization. He integrates analogue and digital techniques to explore future transport ecosystems and luxury design.

Academically, he holds an MA in Transport Design and a BA (Hons) in Industrial Design and Technology. Professionally, he is an ICF AAC (Accredited Professional Coach), emphasizing mentorship through international design masterclasses and youth skill development.

His research focuses on merging craftsmanship with technology in transport systems, while his institutional affiliations include recognition in Staffordshire University’s Research Excellence Framework 2021 for “Internationally Excellent” contributions.
