Professor Richard Fuller is a Professor in the School of the Environment at The University of Queensland. He holds affiliations with the Centre for Marine Science and the Centre for Biodiversity and Conservation Science, both within the Faculty of Science. His research focuses on biodiversity conservation, human-environment interactions, and migratory species ecology.
Education: BSc (Honours) from the University of Bristol, MSc from Imperial College London, and a PhD from Durham University.
Research interests include understanding how human activities impact biodiversity, designing efficient conservation strategies, and exploring the benefits of nature exposure for human well-being. Key topics include migratory bird networks, citizen science applications, and the socio-ecological drivers of conservation success.
Professor Fuller advises governments on environmental policy, including Australia’s bilateral conservation talks with China, Japan, and South Korea. His work emphasizes interdisciplinary solutions to global biodiversity challenges. The Fuller Lab at UQ drives innovative research reshaping the relationship between people and nature.
