معرفی
Paul Oliver is a Senior Lecturer at Griffith University, affiliated with the School of Environment and Science and the Centre for Planetary Health and Food Security. He holds a PhD from the University of Adelaide (2010) and has conducted postdoctoral research in Melbourne and Canberra. His research focuses on vertebrate biodiversity, particularly reptiles and amphibians, integrating morphology, genetics, and distribution modeling. Key interests include documenting short-range endemic species, understanding Australian biota origins, and collaborating with government agencies and NGOs. Oliver has described over 70 new species and works extensively in Australia’s Monsoon Tropics and Melanesia.
Education:
- PhD, University of Adelaide, 2007–2010
Research Interests: Conservation biology, phylogenetics, biogeography, vertebrate systematics, and the impacts of climate change on biodiversity. His work emphasizes collaborative approaches to address knowledge gaps in amphibian and reptile diversity, particularly in understudied regions like New Guinea.
Collaborations & Grants: Collaborates with Queensland Museum, The Nature Conservancy, and IUCN. Recent grants include ARC funding for studying New Guinea’s role in Australian rainforest biodiversity and Queensland Museum projects on montane lizard conservation. His research bridges taxonomy, ecology, and conservation, with a focus on data-driven policy recommendations.
Teaching & Supervision: Teaches Animal Diversity and Zoology. Current doctoral supervisees include students researching chytridiomycosis in amphibians, road ecology mitigation, and rainforest diversity hotspots. He also mentors externally supervised projects on bird biogeography and figuladra snails.
Labs & Affiliations: Member of the Environmental Futures Research Institute (2018–2020) and Centre for Planetary Health and Food Security (2021–present). Active in global conservation initiatives, including citizen science projects to document insular amphibians.
