Richard Finn is a Fellow of Blackfriars Hall and Lector in the Blackfriars Studium at the University of Oxford. He has held roles such as Vice-Regent (1998–2004), Regent (2004–2012), Novice-Master of the English Dominican Province (2012–2016), and has served as Director of the Las Casas Institute for Social Justice since 2016. Since 2018, he has also acted as Provincial Archivist. His research focuses on the intersection of Christian discourse and practice in the Early Church, Augustine’s theology, the history of Dominican friars, and Catholic Social Thought.
His affiliations include Blackfriars Hall, the Las Casas Institute for Social Justice, and the English Dominican Province. He is preparing a forthcoming publication on the history of the English Dominican Province to commemorate the 800th anniversary of their arrival in England.
Key research themes include almsgiving, asceticism, the portrayal of the poor, and the theology of justice and peace, all rooted in Patristic and Medieval traditions.
