Richard Clark is an Associate Professor and Head of the Peptide Chemical Biology Lab at the University of Queensland's School of Biomedical Sciences. With a PhD in marine natural products chemistry from UQ, his research focuses on peptide therapeutics, structural biology, and drug design, particularly conotoxins from marine organisms and peptides targeting the complement system.
Clark develops technologies to stabilize peptide therapeutics and elucidate structure-function relationships of bioactive peptides. His lab investigates peptide inhibitors for complement receptors, conotoxin engineering for nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, and therapeutic applications for inflammatory conditions, neuropathic pain, and radiation-induced cognitive decline. Current work includes colon-targeted drug delivery systems and ACE2 stimulators for SARS-CoV2 and diabetes.
