معرفی
Dr Arsalan Yousuf is a Lecturer at the Sydney Pharmacy School, University of Sydney, based within the Faculty of Medicine and Health. His research integrates neuropharmacology, ion-channel biophysics and receptor biology to understand pain signalling and to develop novel analgesics that act via GABA-B, nicotinic acetylcholine and opioid receptor systems.
Over the past decade he has co-authored >25 peer-reviewed articles that collectively explore:
- Structure–function relationships of conotoxins targeting α9α10 nAChR, α7 nAChR and CaV2.2 channels
- GABA-B-mediated modulation of N-type calcium and GIRK potassium channels
- Biased agonism and multisite phosphorylation of the μ-opioid receptor
- Pre-clinical efficacy of fungal peptides and synthetic acrylamides in neuropathic pain models
- Application of generative AI in pharmacy education
His work frequently employs electrophysiology, molecular pharmacology and stem-cell-derived sensory neurons, positioning his lab at the interface of basic neuroscience and translational pain therapeutics.
