Richard Alm is a Full-Time Faculty member and Writer-in-Residence at the Bridwell Institute for Economic Freedom, Southern Methodist University (SMU). He previously served as Senior Economics Writer at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and has worked with media outlets like The Dallas Morning News, U.S. News & World Report, and The Arizona Republic.

- Graduate coursework in Economics, Arizona State University
Alm’s research focuses on economic freedom, income distribution, and public policy trends. He co-authored the book Myths of Rich & Poor with W. Michael Cox, analyzing economic disparities and historical consumer welfare. His work also explores the Texas economy’s development through political, cultural, and historical lenses.
Alm contributes to publications such as D CEO magazine, Investor’s Business Daily, and Regulation. He has presented at conferences organized by the Association of Private Enterprise Education and the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
